Terms & Conditions

Steel Warehouse Pty Ltd supplies goods and services under these Terms. Please read all sections carefully. By placing an order, accepting goods, or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

⚠️ Load Compliance — Victorian Road Laws

Load Dimensions

  • Rear overhang must not exceed 3.7 metres or 60% of your wheelbase, whichever is less.
  • Any load projecting more than 1.2m beyond the rear requires a flag (min 30×30cm) during the day and a red light at night.
  • Load must not project more than 150mm from either side — total width must not exceed 2.5 metres.
  • If your vehicle is not suitable, it is your responsibility to arrange appropriate transport.
  • Steel Warehouse staff will assess your vehicle at pickup. If it does not meet requirements, Steel Warehouse reserves the right to refuse loading and a full refund will be issued.

Load Restraints

  • Tie downs and restraints must be in good working condition — free from cuts, fraying, corrosion or damage.
  • Restraints must not be past their replacement date and must be rated to an appropriate working load limit (WLL) for the weight of steel being carried.
  • A minimum of 2 tie downs must be used — steel must be restrained against movement in all directions.
  • You are responsible for the safe restraint of your load in accordance with the National Load Restraint Guide.

Terms & Conditions of Trading

Steel Warehouse Pty Ltd ("Company") supplies goods and services under these Terms. When you place an order, accept goods, or receive services, you ("Purchaser") agree to these Terms.

1. Definitions

"Company" refers to Steel Warehouse Pty Ltd. "Purchaser" refers to the person, business, or entity placing an order, including employees, agents, successors, or assigns acting on their behalf. "Goods" refers to all goods, materials, or services supplied by the Company. These Terms form the entire agreement between the parties. Both parties must agree in writing to vary these Terms.

2. Payment Terms

All orders placed through steelwarehouse.com.au require full payment at the time of checkout. Payment is processed securely via Shopify's payment platform. Orders will not be confirmed or fulfilled until payment has been successfully received. The Company reserves the right to cancel any order where payment cannot be collected.

3. Order Pickup

Steel Warehouse operates as a pickup-only business. All orders must be collected from our warehouse in person — we do not offer delivery. Once an order is ready, the Purchaser will be notified. The Company does not accept liability for delays caused by circumstances beyond its control.

4. Warranties and Claims

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Company excludes all implied warranties, including merchantability or fitness for purpose. The Purchaser must submit any quality or service complaints in writing within 7 days of pickup. Claims submitted outside this timeframe may not be considered.

5. Allocation of Loading Responsibility

Unless otherwise noted in writing, the Purchaser is responsible for loading, securing and transport of all materials once the Company has made it available for collection. Where the Company provides access to loading equipment, staff or facilities, such involvement is limited to facilitated collection and does not transfer responsibility for load compliance, restraint, or transport safety to the Company.

6. Safe Loading and Transport Compliance

The Purchaser must ensure that all goods collected are:

  • Safely loaded and secured in accordance with the National Transport Commission Load Restraint Guide (or equivalent standard);
  • Within all applicable mass and dimension limits;
  • Transported in a manner that does not create a risk to public safety.

The Company reserves the right to refuse release of materials where it reasonably believes that a load is unsafe or non-compliant.

7. Safety Directions and Intervention

The Company may give directions in relation to site safety and may intervene in loading activities where it reasonably considers there to be a safety risk.

Such directions or intervention:

  • are provided to assist in maintaining a safe environment; and
  • do not constitute control over the Purchaser's transport activities or transfer responsibility.

The Purchaser must comply with all reasonable safety directions issued by the Company.

8. Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Customer indemnifies the Company against any claims, loss, damage, liability, or expense arising from:

  • the Purchaser's breach of these terms;
  • the Purchaser's failure to comply with applicable laws;
  • unsafe loading, restraint, or transport of goods once released to the Purchaser; or
  • any negligent or unlawful act or omission of the Purchaser or its agents.

9. Passing of Risk and Acceptance

Risk passes to the Purchaser at the point of pickup from our warehouse. Accepting goods constitutes acceptance of these Terms. The Purchaser is solely responsible for the safe transport of goods once collected.

10. Order Cancellation

Orders may be cancelled by contacting us in writing before the order is ready for pickup. Once an order has been prepared or cut to size, cancellation may not be possible and costs already incurred may be applied. The Company reserves the right to cancel any order and issue a full refund at its discretion.

11. Returns & Refunds

We accept returns under the following conditions:

  • The item must be returned within 14 days of purchase.
  • The item must be in its original, undamaged condition — unused and unaltered.
  • The customer is responsible for returning the item. As we are a pickup-only business, all returns must be brought back to our warehouse in person — we do not arrange or cover return transport.
  • Cut-to-size items cannot be returned under any circumstances, as these are custom cut to your specifications.

Once the returned item has been inspected and accepted, a full refund will be issued to your original payment method. If you have any questions regarding a return, please contact us before bringing the item back.

12. Invalid Terms

If any term is deemed unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Disputes must be heard in Victoria.
